The examination consists of six subjects, namely, Hindi, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, and an elective subject. The examination is based on the syllabus and textbooks prescribed by the board. The examination is conducted in the semester system, with two terms, each of 50 marks. The examination is of three hours duration, and the medium of instruction is Hindi or English.
  • 12th Class: The examination for 12th class is conducted twice a year, in March and September, for the regular, compartment, improvement, and additional candidates. The examination consists of five subjects, namely, Hindi, English, and three elective subjects, depending on the stream chosen by the candidate, such as Arts, Science, Commerce, or Vocational. The examination is based on the syllabus and textbooks prescribed by the board. The examination is conducted in the semester system, with two terms, each of 50 marks. The examination is of three hours duration, and the medium of instruction is Hindi or English.
  • JBT: The examination for Junior Basic Training (JBT) is conducted once a year, in June or July, for the candidates who have completed the two-year diploma course in elementary education, from the recognized institutes in Himachal Pradesh. The examination consists of four subjects, namely, Hindi, English, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. The examination is based on the syllabus and textbooks prescribed by the board. The examination is of three hours duration, and the medium of instruction is Hindi or English.
  • TET: The examination for Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) is conducted once a year, in November or December, for the candidates who aspire to become teachers in the government or private schools in Himachal Pradesh. The examination consists of five categories, namely, TET for JBT, TET for TGT (Arts), TET for TGT (Non-Medical), TET for TGT (Medical), and TET for Language Teacher.
